Strata

Installation • Mexico City, Mexico • Completion 2019

As-found elements such as doors, chairs and tables have been cut to square format and stacked up to form a topographic cross section of sedimentary layers telling the story of an old house’s previous inhabitation. Positioned in the center of a former bedroom the temporary column supports structurally the ruinous architecture of cracked walls and tilted floors. In an attempt to provisionally fix the insufficient roof structure the column becomes an integral part of the architecture protecting inhabitants from a possible collapse.
