A series of temporary structures are installed on the Zócalo Square in Central Mexico City for the International Fair of Cultures comprising a pavilion for Mexico City, a fair hall accommodating 70 embassies and an open forum for events. All structures are realised in modules made of commercial plywood sheets of 1.22m x 2.44m. Like a house of cards, the modules are assembled to buildings using the method of intersection in order to stabilise the structures and to simplify the construction.

The pavilion is a semi-transparent enclosure with a stepped void space referring to the three-dimensional silhouette of the ancient pyramid that was originally located on the site hundreds of years ago prior to the colonial period.
