The National Museum Complex is a new characterful landmark within the Governmental City of Sejong. A series of iconic museum buildings is set on a new raised landscape separating visitors at a higher level from vehicular traffic below. Combining the city’s urban grid with a scenic landscape, the museum complex belongs to the city and the surrounding greenery alike. The proposed recultivated biotope areas along the waterfronts provide a green pole within the city. Together with the holistic sustainability concept the National Museum Complex stands out as a highly sustainable new urban model that accommodates large numbers of visitors but also allows them to escape the everyday routine and recreate in close touch with nature and culture. • In collaboration with ARUP
